RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Has The No. 1 Single In U.K.

According to BBC News, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE has won the most competitive battle in years for the Christmas No. 1 on the U.K. chart.

The band's single, "Killing In The Name", sold 500,000 downloads beating "X Factor" winner Joe McElderry's "The Climb" by 50,000 copies to clinch the top spot.

Their success followed a Facebook campaign designed to prevent another "X Factor" number one.

One retailer said it was a "truly remarkable outcome — possibly the greatest chart upset ever."

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE guitarist Tom Morello revealed via his Twitter earlier in the week that his band will play a massive free gig in the U.K. as a "thank" you to British fans if they mange to score the Christmas No. 1. "It will be the victory party to end all victory parties," he promised.
